Seeking Someone Who Follows Crossroads

I'm looking for someone who reads pretty much everything Simpson posts.  I don't. I monitor his blog for lies about and hostility to Southern heritage, and those are the only posts I read.

I'm looking for someone who does read him to tell me how often he has posted honors and thanks to contemporary American military members.

His post deriding Tim Manning for his position on the U.S. military includes a pathetic excuse for a thank you tacked on to the end, afterthought-like.  It made me realize I've never seen him write posts honoring today's armed forces. Of course, he may have, and I missed it, since I only read his attacks on Southern heritage.

If you know that he has, please post a link in the comments.  Thanks.

OH NOES!!! IT'S THE END OF SOUTHERN HERITAGE!!! Redux

Hang the crape! Blow the monuments to smithereens! Burn all the flags! Turn the MOCs into Nail Salons!** Disband the SCV and UDC! Peel off them SECEDE stickers!

IT'S THE END OF SOUTHERN HERITAGE AS WE KNOW IT!

The first flogger prediction of the end of Southern heritage was discussed here, back in May.  Why was Southern heritage ending back in May? Because some film student who had made videos of the VaFlaggers made false claims about monument vandalization in Richmond. The flogger prediction made no sense then, and it still makes no sense. It was just flogger inner yearning given voice (or print, as it were).

Yes, because these haters love the idea of wiping out Southern heritage (and Southern identity), they love predicting destruction. Two months later, in August, they made a similar prediction about the Virginia Flaggers. You can read what I wrote about that HERE.

Why was oblivion the fate of the Virginia Flaggers, according to these doom-sayers? Because of the I-95 flag project. Andy predicted they'd "meld" into just another Confederate heritage group and disappear that way. Simpson predicted they'd "melt" under the spotlight they'd turned on themselves.

I noted then, "Levin isn't predicting the end of the Flaggers by melting or group-cloning. He's just predicting that there will be no Confederate flag on I-95 near Richmond."

Boy, was he wrong!

What's going to do in Southern heritage this time?  Opposition to a monument to Union Soldiers at Olustee Battlefield near Lake City, Florida. (Smirk.) No, really. I'm not making this up. They're saying this on their blogs.

When you read the comments of the floggers and their peanut gallery floggerettes about this subject, one thing that stands out is that they don't care about the flippin' union monument, except that it gives a reason and an opportunity to indulge their hatred of Southern heritage.

By and large, these folks buy into the leftist, post-civil rights, race-obsessed mindset, which requires, or at least fosters, a hatred of Southern white people, past and present. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they are interested in the civil war itself only because it provides them with a cover -- a seemingly logical reason -- for hating Southern whites, particularly advocates of Confederate heritage. The war is a convenient excuse.

If memory serves, what initially brought Levin's blog to my attention was his post complaining about the SCV's secession ball in Charleston several years ago. That was typical, I've learned. Any time a proSouthern group like the SCV does anything to protect or promote Confederate heritage, these floggers launch hate-fests on their blogs.

I suppose they wouldn't mind the SCV or the VaFlaggers existing, as long as those groups didn't DO anything. It would be even more to their liking if the SCV turned traitor, like Waite Rawles, but they'd likely settle for its just going mute and invisible.

When said groups refuse to sit down and shut up, the floggers have to host hate-fests on their flogs, predict doom, and give their floggerettes a forum for what they do best -- spew derision and hate.

However, as noted above, the predictions of doom for Confederate heritage are just wistful flogger longing given voice -- or rather, given print. And they have as much chance of coming true as Levin's prediction that there would be no flag on I-95.

I've lately put too many irons in the fire, and I've restricted my time, but if I get time, I want to delve into these Olustee flogger post individually and address some of their more bizarre claims.

For now, I will just note first that the VaFlaggers inform me that their membership is UP and donations are UP. If that's an example of the demise of a group, I hope it spreads to the whole of Southern heritage. Second, I suspect one reason that the floggers are so childishly intense, so derisive and so hateful in their prediction of doom for Southern heritage is because they know it ain't gonna happen....

If Confederate heritage really does disappear, it will be because of hostile actions like this, and hostile people who actually intend to do away with Confederate heritage, not anything the SCV or heritage supporters do. In other words, it won't be suicide, Andy; it will be murder.

Hope the Relief Agencies Are Gearing Up

The Philippines are about to get wiped out. Typhoon Haiyan is truly a monster. It's chilling just to look at on a weather map.

Coastal areas are being evacuated, but those people aren't going to have anything to come back to. Praying folks should be doing that now, bigtime....

A Review of 12 Years a Slave by Armond White

"12 Years a Slave belongs to the torture porn genre..."

Dud of the Week; 12 Years A Slave
Reviewed for CityArts
By Armond White –

Follow the link to read the entire review. http://www.nyfcc.com/2013/10/3450/

Meanwhile, here are some excerpts I found very interesting.
Brutality, violence and misery get confused with history in 12 Years a Slave, British director Steve McQueen’s adaptation of the 1853 American slave narrative by Solomon Northup ... For McQueen, cruelty is the juicy-arty part; it continues the filmmaker’s interest in sado-masochistic display, highlighted in his previous features Hunger and Shame. Brutality is McQueen’s forte...Depicting slavery as a horror show, McQueen has made the most unpleasant American movie since William Friedkin’s1973 The Exorcist. That’s right, 12 Years a Slave belongs to the torture porn genre with Hostel, The Human Centipede and the Saw franchise but it is being sold (and mistaken) as part of the recent spate of movies that pretend “a conversation about race.”

For commercial distributor Fox Searchlight, 12 Years a Slave appears at an opportune moment when film culture–five years into the Obama administration–indulges stories about Black victimization such as Precious, The Help, The Butler, Fruitvale Station and Blue Caprice. (What promoter Harvey Weinstein has called “The Obama Effect.”) This is not part of social or historical enlightenment–the too-knowing race-hustlers behind 12 Years a Slave, screenwriter John Ridley and historical advisor Henry Louis Gates, are not above profiting from the misfortunes of African-American history as part of their own career advancement.

The egregious inhumanity of 12 Years a Slave (featuring the most mawkish and meaningless fade-out in recent Hollywood history) only serves to perpetuate Hollywood’s disenfranchisement of Black people’s humanity. ... But 12 Years a Slave is ultimate proof that Hollywood’s respect for Black humanity is in absurd, patronizing, Oscar-winning decline.
Wow. I'm surprised this movie hasn't found more traction with the floggers and their peanut galleries. Considering the depiction of slave misery in this movie (assuming the review is accurate), it sound like it's right up their alley....

Shrinking and Shriveling Intelligence and Integrity

I'm constantly amazed at how willing, even eager, floggers are -- or seem to be --  to shrink their own intelligence and shrivel their own integrity, just to take ugly stabs at people they don't like ... the Virginia Flaggers, f'rinstance.  People who have never done ANYthing to them...

Couple of recent examples stand out. I'll start with this one: In his ludicrous attempt to belittle the VaFlaggers over the recent theft of Grayson Jennings' excavator from the flag site, Kevin Levin gives us some keen insight into how HIS mind works.

Take this Levin quote: "Let’s be clear. There is absolutely no evidence that any individual or group opposed to this project is responsible."

Fascinating! How does he know this?  Is he omniscient? Was he there? Isn't he in flippin' MASSACHUSETTS?  Did he call the police in Virginia to find out about what evidence there was --  and was not -- that he's so CLEAR about?  I mean, my gosh, it makes  you wonder why the VaFlaggers even bothered to call the police. Why didn't they just call Levin, since he knows what evidence there is and is not in the case?

No. He can't know whether there is clear evidence for what he's claiming or not. Or even muddy evidence. He simply can't know -- and if he thinks he can, he needs to tell how and why. Without that, his post is either a case of questionable intelligence, or questionable integrity. (Either way, it's sobering to think that this man teaches children.)

Then he sez, "The flag site is on private property and from what I remember the homeowner is fairly close to the pole itself."

Ah, yeah. The only thing separating them is a flippin' INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, and some woods and a field or two.

"How exactly did these thieves manage to drive a truck and trailer onto this property, load the excavator and leave without making sufficient noise to be noticed?"

Well, there could be any number of explanations. Since we don't know when it happened, maybe it happened at a time when all the neighbors were away at work. Maybe it happened in the middle of the night and they were asleep. Maybe they were home but perhaps playing television or music loud enough that it drowned out exterior sound. Maybe the sound coming from the flippin' INTERSTATE drowned it out. Or maybe it WAS noticed. Maybe somebody saw it and thought it was the owner legitimately coming to get his equipment.

How can anybody who can be SO CLEAR on "evidence" he has no knowledge of not figure this out?

"In this image you can see the trailer home"

Yep. Sure can. But when was the picture made? How long before the theft occurred?  Did it not occur to someone who can be SO CLEAR on "evidence" (that he can't know) that the equipment could have been MOVED during work on the site and parked elsewhere, and could have been sitting farther away from the mobile homes at the time of  the theft?

"Anybody know where Susan Hathaway was at the time of the theft?"

Well, between Thursday afternoon and Monday morning, she was probably many, many places. Somebody who can be SO  CLEAR on evidence he doesn't have the benefit of knowing finds this difficult to grasp? (P.S. Levin, pssst. Putting a smiley face after a false accusation -- even if just an implied accusation --  doesn't make it okay , capisce?)

This is not the first time Levin has alluded to his own omniscience, claiming to be "clear" about things he couldn't know. It's just a matter of time before he decides to declare his candidacy for Supreme Being. Can't wait to see the yard signs....

Flogger ESP on the Fritz?

Corey Meyer: Looking at the flag in the video, it does not appear to be the same flag that was raised over a month ago…it does not have the white border the original one does. Wonder why that is…or maybe I am just seeing things.

Andy Hall: Nope, different flag.

Brooks D. Simpson: I think you’re right, Corey. Wonder if anything happened to the original flag.

You wonder? YOU WONDER?  You mean you DON'T KNOW????

But-but-but you floggers and your peanut galleries have palmed yourselves off as EXPERTS on the VaFlaggers -- including intimate knowledge of the Flaggers' deepest motivations. And now you don't know this? And it was discussed on Facebook weeks ago?

What happened? Did your ESP go on the fritz? Did your crystal balls and chicken bones get FUBARed? Has Miss Cleo not returned your calls? Is Facebook suddenly too complicated for you to negotiate?

Hey, Simp. Gently lay your hands on your computer, and see if the answer comes to you that way.

The "D" Stands for Double Standard

Brooks D. Simpson takes Grayson Jennings to task for referring to the US flag as "that American flag.," saying Jennings "... has trouble saying the words 'United States.'"

Isn't it funny, how transparent th is guy is? Almost since the beginning of the I-95 flag project, complainer Kristen "Wonder Woman" Konate has talked the "American flag," repeatedly. It's only recently that she's begun referring to the Starznstripes as "the U.S. flag." Where was his concern about her having trouble saying the words "United States" before she got smart about the flag?

Silly Posts and Comments from Flogger Blogs

 ~ Crossroads ~

Simpson is gradually backing into stirring up hatred for the Virginia Flaggers again, after some time off to wander in the desert crying, "Rob Walker! Rob Walker!"

Now, he's featuring Kenye West claiming the battle flag and asking  “It’s my flag now. Now what are you going to do?”

Well, Simpson, Kenye and anyone else who's interested, what I'm gonna do is ... nuthin'. I realize this is a PR gimmick for Kenye, who is an entertainer, and has to do something to make an impression on the public. He will tire of this and move on to some other PR gimmick, sooner or later. It's what celebrities do.

Wonder Woman weighs in with "Good point. It’s MY flag too, and I took it from the losers and replaced it with the US Flag. Whatcha gonna do Flaggerettes?"

Well, Wonder Woman, if you've already smeared  it, besmirched it and lied about it -- as you certainly have -- it is NOT your flag. You didn't take it from anybody -- we all still have it. You haven't replaced it with the US flag, because it can't be replaced. However, I'm glad to see you've learned to call the US flag what it is rather than calling it the "American" flag. (The Confederate flag is an American flag, sugah... Don't believe me? Fill in the blank: "The Confederate States of _______." I'll give you a hint. It starts with A and ends with a, and it ain't Antarctica.)

In the past, I've hesitated to mention of  the lack of intelligence exhibited by our critics, and have done so only a handful of times, because that's usually something people have no control over. Besides, it's too much like what the floggers do -- they love to gratuitously ridicule the intelligence of people they don't like or disagree with.

But I dunno, folks, I'm seeing a lot of stupidity coming out in flogger posts and comments lately.

Simpson seems disgruntled that VaFlagger Judy Smith's tweet said Jamelle Bouie of the Daily Beast was a lying sneak for misrepresenting himself to the VaFlaggers as a Newsweek reporter at a recent flagging.

Simpson reminds the peanut gallery, "To make the implicit obvious, Newsweek owns The Daily Beast. No misrepresentation whatsoever." In fact, he is so unsure of his floggerette peanut gallery's intelligence, he reminds them of that TWICE in the same comment thread.

If I've been reluctant in the past to mention flogger lapses in intelligence, I've frequently pointed out lapses in flogger integrity. This seems to be a case of both...

The Daily Beast is owned by Newsweek. So? That's supposed to establish some kind of credibility? So one leftist publication owns another leftist publication. Whoop-dee-do.

However, it is more accurate to say that BOTH are owned by the The Newsweek Daily Beast Company, which was created when they merged in November 2010, although there is some indication that the companies are owned separately now. As of August 3, 2013, Newsweek is owned by IBT Media, owner of the International Business Times, and The Daily Beast by IAC/InterActiveCorp.

But even if Newsweek DOES own The Daily Beast, that doesn't make Bouie a "reporter for Newsweek." His "reports" appear in The Daily Beast, that makes him a reporter for The Daily Beast. He might be an EMPLOYEE of Newsweek, or whatever company owns the websites this week, but he is not a REPORTER for them.

There seems to be a problem with integrity for some Daily Beast writers, just like there is with floggers. Google "Gerald Posner".

Re: Simpson's comments to Billy Bearden ... once again -- is it deficient flogger intelligence, or deficient flogger integrity, that prompts Simpson to confuse the defintion of "friend" in the Facebook/digital age? He's a Facebooker himself, so he knows firsthand what "friend" means in social media.

In this case, IMO, it's not a lack of intelligence at play, but the same abysmal lack of integrity Simpson consistently demonstrates at his blog.

 ~ Kindred Blood ~

Like a kid with ADHD, Corey has wearied of  harassing John C. Hall, Jr., and now has Barry Isenhour in what passes for his crosshairs...

Re, one of Barry's FB posts -- this one about Black Confederates -- Corey writes, "The Va. Flaggers seem fine not to question any of this a (sic) just put him down as a soldier."

I note first of all that Barry is not THE Virginia Flaggers. He is A Virginia Flagger.

"This is done so that they can try and remove slavery from the cause of their ancestors."

Once again, I feel a little silly having to point out the obvious, but Corey, you don't know the motives of all "they" --  the Virginia Flaggers. You don't even know the IDENTITY of all of them.

As is typical of floggers, you're totally defining Barry's interaction with others on the basis of one thread on Facebook -- and ignoring the dozens, likely hundreds and maybe thousands of positive interactions he has day after day, month after month, year after year.

And what piddling stuff you choose to define him! A belief; an opinion -- as opposed to deeds and actions. For example, as far as I know, Barry doesn't make fake profile after fake profile, dishonestly trying to get access to cyber-places and info of people he is hostile to, so he will have something he can put on his blog to try to embarrass them with -- or worse, drum up hatred for them.

LibertyLamp, who is the "they" you are talking about? If you're referring to historic Confederates, they weren't on the wrong side of everything -- at least, no more than the people who came down here and made brutal war on them were.

If you're referring to Confederate heritage supporters today, you should probably understand that there are lots of them, and "they" don't all think alike about Black Confederates or anything else -- and thinking that "they" all do makes you, well, prejudiced and a stereotyper -- which is akin to being a bigot.

Re: Black Confederates -- some heritage folks staunchly support the idea. Some are thoroughly scornful of it. And some are quite indifferent. I'm in that category. I don't know whether there were black Confederates -- I don't care whether there were (although I don't fall down an have seizures if some other heritage advocate has a different opinion).

I don't believe black soldiers have to be "found" in the Confederate army to give legitimacy to the Confederate cause. It stands on its own. However, I do favor recognition for anybody -- white, black, any color, young, old, male, female, military, civilian, whoso-flippin'ever -- that helped the Confederate cause.

"Even" Gone With the Wind was fiction, LibertyLamp? Well, duh. That's what makes it a novel. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the tales Peggy Mitchell heard weren't factual. (This has to be pointed out to people of such lofty intelligence and anti-wacist integrity?)

You seem to have a very simplistic -- dare I say it, black-and-white --  way of looking at things. You appear to believe in the false dichotomy that crops up from time to time in flogger blog posts.

Disturbing Flagger Obsession

Folks, what we have below is a list compiled from the results of searches done at Brooks D. Simpson's Crossroads blog. The searches were done with the search function provided on his blog, and with Google.

The search term used was "flaggers."

The searches identified 97 posts occurring between December 29, 2011 and October 26, 2013. There were many more mentions of the Flaggers, or use of the word "flagger," in the comment threads at Crossroads, but neither search engine searched the comments.

If you were to go back through and read these posts, you would find innuendo, slime, outright lies and yes, hatred -- not to mention contradictions (why is he still carping about Susan's "silence" when he purported to explain it weeks ago?) and general unbalance...  All quite disturbing....

The question is ... why?  Anybody want to offer any explanations for Simpson's obsession (and that of his peanut gallery)? For his pathological lies, his pretending to know people he has never met -- know their motives, their thoughts, their feelings? Any idea where such megalomaniacal behavior originates? And why?

97 "flagger" posts at Crossroads blog between December 29, 2011 and October 26, 2013 -- 36 posted before the I-95 flag announcement, 61 after...
