Postmodernism -- The Destroyers' Philosophy

This is Jordan Peterson, a Canadian clinical psychologist and professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. And this video about postmodernism is an eye opener. Understanding postmodernism brings understanding of those who hold with the philosophy ... and this video clearly explains why they are our enemies.

Professor Peterson recommends this book, Explaining Postmodernism by Stephen R.C. Hicks, a Canadian-American philosopher who teaches at Rockford University. The book is available as a downloadable PDF here:

Dr. Hicks' book is a bit involved, although I've read texts on philosophy that are much more arcane and difficult. But the conclusion he reaches isn't difficult at all. In fact, his conclusions are hardly new.

"Nihilism is close to the surface in the postmodern intellectual movement in a historically unprecedented way," he says and he devotes a section to "Foucault and Derrida on the end of man".

It mirrors what Igor Shafaravich, Soviet mathemetician and dissident, wrote about socialism decades ago, here edited from a paraphrase found at Sobran's:

"...socialism had endured throughout history, usually in the form of one or another Christian heresy. It gives expression to the gnostic urge to rebel — the rebellion of the educated against the constraints imposed by Creation and by God. In earlier periods, when of course the socialist label was not used, it could be identified by its insistent, unvarying emphasis on certain goals: the destruction of private property and of the traditional or 'nuclear' family; and above all, the dismemberment of traditional, or orthodox religion. Throughout history, the phenomenon has been obsessed with material equality, and with the eradication of individual and gender distinctions. It wars incessantly against the normal. A 'striving for self-destruction,' for nothingness, for the “death of mankind,” is the true goal of socialism. Instinctively, without stating it or even seeing it as the conscious goal, the socialist phenomenon seeks the death of the human race."

Socialism's goal is the death of mankind.

The people I call The Destroyers -- antifa, BLM, TEDNOLA, anarchists, leftists and other assorted haters -- have targeted Southern heritage, just as they have targeted Trump events, conservative speakers at universities, and others.

They are formidable opponents, but not invincible. Everything that helps us understand them and push back should be welcomed, and learned from, by our people. That includes  Professor Peterson's video, and Dr. Hicks' book.

ANNOUNCING The Dixie Flyer

An underground newsletter dedicated to supporting and promoting Southern and Confederate heritage.
The Flyer is single-fold, letter-sized, to be printed front and back, and photocopied for distribution. Content is focused on current heritage battles.

It will be professionally digitally typeset and made available for download as a PDF file. It can be taken on disk or thumb drive, or uploaded, to quick-print shops for photocopying. (If you photocopy it yourself, make sure you know how to do two-sided copying.)

A digital version of each edition will be available for reading online.

The Flyer will be a cooperative, volunteer project, at least for the foreseeable future. To be successful, I am looking for:
1. Writers/content providers. Content should fit one of these categories:
A. successful strategies for counter-attacking opponents, short of violence. The Flyer will not endorse or encourage violence.
B. neutralizing the arguments of critics, offline and online, particularly on social media,
C. persuading authorities and the general public,
D. "Did you know" features -- interesting historical tidbits (a few sentences) not generally known.
E. inspirationals, to combat discouragement.

Writers' guidelines will be posted in the future.
2. Original artwork and photography related the Flyer's mission and/or a specific article or report.

3. Advertisers -- Since the Flyer will be small -- 5 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches tall, and four pages (front, back, and two inside), ad space will be minimal -- one column inch per ad, two ads per issue. Ad costs are not set at this time, but will also be minimal, to defray the cost of web hosting and a domain name.

4. Distributors. In addition to activists who will hand out Flyers at gatherings and pass them out at city and county council meetings and other venues, we need heritage-friendly businesses to make space for a Dixie Flyer display rack. Acrylic bi-fold-sized racks are cheap and work fine. If you don't have a business but you know of one, ask if you can set up the displays and keep the rack stocked with Flyers.
Southern heritage supporters, visit the new page for The Dixie Flyer at It's Our Heritage webpage. Read the preliminary issue of the Flyer online, or download a PDF. The downloadable version is in two pages (front/back and two inner pages) for printing out, photocopying and distribution. If you use a quick print shop, ask them to show you how to do two-sided copies; then, a single fold makes the Flyer ready for distribution.

Plans are to put a new issue online every two weeks. Content will relate directly to out endangered monuments, and how to fight back.

Meanwhile, here's the preliminary version:

The Dixie Flyer

If you download, print, and distribute, please let me know your experience, not only with the printing, copying, etc. (in case I need to change anything) but also what kind of reception you get.

A Little Visit to the Land of Cyber-hate

I haven't noodled around much at Simpson's hate blog in a long time -- a quick looksee now and then...  But I checked out the comment thread that follows the filth he lately hurled at me, and it is fascinating to see how ungrounded in truth they are, what their concepts of certain subjects are, how they--

Well, here. I'll show you.

Charlie sez, "All the leftists and socialists I’ve read really hate Hillary Clinton! Funny how a New York Billionaire has stolen the heart of these southerners…."

Only the Bernie faction, Charlie. And Trump hasn't stolen any hearts -- well, only a few. Most simply voted for him because he was the only alternative to Hillary.

Ohio Guy: "Far left and far right have a lot in common. They are both motivated primarily by hate. And, the extremes of their hate is evidenced when they focus on each other. A pax on both of their houses!"

Simpson's and DeStroy's blogs being great examples of extreme far left hate. Peace on both houses, Guy? Or did you mean pox?

Jason writes, "They deserve each other imo, I just wish our country wasn’t collateral damage while they dishonesty slug it out."

Pretty flimsy country you got there, Jason.

Jason also writes, "Isn’t this the same crowd who keeps ignorantly claiming that the CSA was right that a state can secede whenever it wants, that the Constitution is just a loose compact between states and that the US is just a “federation”?

There may be some who claim that, sure enough. The "crowd" of Southern heritage thinks and claims the whole spectrum. Getting them to speak in unison is like trying to herd cats.

Jason continues, "How is not anti-american, destructive towards the founders achievements and wishes?? How is violating and attempting to overthrow the Constitution on behalf of preserving slavery not polar opposite to the wishes of people like Washington and Jefferson…?"

Nobody violated or tried to overthrow the Constitution -- they tried to LEAVE the union it governed. You know, depart, withdraw, get the heck out, take a powder, scram, skedaddle....

As a matter of fact, in the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson established that people are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, and that governments are instituted to secure those rights. One right he specifically identifies is the right of the people to alter or abolish their government and create another that suits them better. This right both pre-exists and transcends the U.S. Constitution.  How grotesque, then, that the only time Americans have attempted to exercise this right, the government that was supposed to secure it for them made brutal war on them instead.

Andy Hall sez, "You’re looking for intellectual consistency. That’s sweet."

Just don't look for intellectual honesty at Simpson's blog, or Andy's, or Levin's or the demented DeStroy's blog. But if you go looking for hate, you'll find it in spades.

bob carey muses, "I wonder if Chastain collects social security or does she stand on principle and refuse to accept any benefits."

My personal situation is none of your flippin' business, carey, but how would it be "standing on principle" for anyone to refuse to take a benefit one paid into all one's working life? Giving up something you've contributed to for decades is "standing on principle"? My gosh, I wonder what else "standing on principle" means to you.

charlie (don't know if it's a different charlie) sez, "Look at what one of her masculine southern boys had to say…."

Ah, no sense of the passage of time, eh, charlie? I clearly identified that I was talking about Confederate men -- specifically, those in the armed forces of the CSA. I guess separating "back then" from "now" is too much a strain for charlie.
Nightflyer shows the world the extent of HIS conception of manliness: "I didn’t realize the “Lost Cause” was about the virility of the South and the size of Lee’s and Beauregard’s penises."

Unbelievable. Y'all trip over to and look up viril and virility, and see if you can find "penis size" anywhere in the definition. The closest thing you'll find is that a secondary definition of the word is "the power of procreation."  Why is it when one discusses traits of masculinity and femininity or relationships between men and women, leftists promptly illustrate their prurient interests?

Shoshana Bee quotes me (Our Confederate heroes were some of history’s manliest of men. Even in cold, lifeless bronze, Davis, Beauregard and Lee exuded a level of virility that shames Mitch Landrieu...) and then sez, "A casual observation: Why is it that Chastain has to call upon long dead heroes as paragons of her heritage movement? No current examples? Ooopsie! It seems that a majority of them are tied up in one sort of litigation or another, court dates, sentencing, depositions — you know, heritage hero stuff."

Ah, Shoshy, have you been off planet? Or under a rock somewhere? I mention Davis, Beauregard and Lee because THEIR MONUMENTS IN NEW ORLEANS HAVE BECOME THE TARGET OF A STALIN-LIKE PURGE... That's what my whole blog post was about. A casual observation: Can you read? Or when you go into snide snippy mode, does the ability to read and accurately observe elude you?

If you don't mind my asking (and I know I won't get an answer) what does it do for you to lie about heritage folks?

Dimmy Jick bleats, "Note that Chastain seems to exhibit a desire for men who dominated women who could not object to being used for sexual gratification by men who owned them. As I’ve said before, Chastain’s fetish is a psychological matter."

Ah, yes, Dimmy, the fake psychiatrist... my admiration for the men whose monuments have become the targets of a cultural jihadist purging is for their awesome abilities as warriors in the defense of the South and their sterling character (something you might not recognize if you saw it). You have just showed us what prurient historical subject is near and dear to YOUR heart...

C. Meyer mutters, "With all the virility and masculine spirit it’s amazing they lost."

It is amazing, but it becomes more understandable when you know that their enemy preyed on civilians -- women, children, the elderly, servants and other non-combatants-- stealing their food and leaving them to starve. Burning and shelling towns across the South that had no military presence or significance. Because the great humanitarian Lincoln blockaded medicine. Because the South didn't have an endless supply of immigrants who could fight for them right off the boat like the north. Because they were fighting to defend what they loved, homes, families and territory; and the north was fighting to destroy, motivated by hate (their treatment of POWs, Sherman's desire to genocide Southerners ... echoed by his wife. Salmon Chase saying he didn't love slaves as much as he hated slave owners -- but he didn't want free blacks in Ohio. John Brown's murderous/terroristic abolitionist hatred). There's more but that should give you an idea

Hey, Simpson-bots. Have y'all looked in a mirror lately? Probably shouldn't. You might not like what you see -- because what you'll see is what you criticize in others... you know, the folks you hate the most.

Another One Getting Like and Shares....

How unfortunate to have such a sleazeball as mayor. There will be some grim satisfaction, however, in watching the city rot and grow moldy and dessicated.  At least it will still have voodoo, drugs, prostitution and crime.

The Nature of the Monument Destroyers

The force behind the assault on Confederate heritage is the same force behind the attacks on President Trump. What we are seeing is an enormous psychotic episode, a colossal nervous breakdown by the ultra-left in America because their adored Hillary was defeated.

The left has always been destructive, increasingly so in recent years. But since Trump has been in office -- since late January -- where he has steadily razed the Obama legacy, they've been like an animal in the furious stage of rabies.

These people are not Americans. Leftists are socialists. They are the antithesis of Americans. They are destroyers. Since they cannot have our country and transform it into Socialist America, they will destroy it.

Destroying Confederate heritage is an early phase, a trial run, you might say. They have the same fate in mind for the legacy of the Founders... not just monuments and statues, but the very country they crafted. They want to destroy every aspect of the culture -- Christianity, the family, private property, education, historical memory, our cultural cohesiveness, our very identity as western man.

Western man. Man. Men. The left hates nothing the way they hate masculinity. From "feminism", which is not about equality for women but about hating and hurting men ... from feminizing industry, education, the military, church leadership, the popular culture, the government to the demonization of "dead white males" the left hates virility.

VIRILE, VIRILITY characterized by a vigorous, masculine spirit: manly character, vigor, or spirit; masculine energy, forcefulness, or strength in a marked degree.

Our Confederate heroes were some of history's manliest of men. Even in cold, lifeless bronze, Davis, Beauregard and Lee exuded a level of virility that shames Mitch Landrieu.

The nameless Confederate soldiers in marble and granite standing atop pedestals and obelisks across the South shame the typical leftist male -- the Michael Moores, the Morris Deeses, the brainwashed antifa, the mindless mobs, the spineless and weak-minded men, leftists themselves or influenced by leftism, who run government at all levels. The closest thing these men have to masculine energy and vigorous spirit is hatred. Oddly enough, this is the same fuel that energizes leftist women -- the Hillary Clintons, the Maxine Waterses, the Ashley Judds and the Madonnas -- as well.

As we craft and then implement our counter-offensive in the defense of our heritage -- and our continued existence and the future for our children (make no mistake, these are in the Left's crosshairs, as well) -- it will do us well to remember the nature of our attackers.

Congratulations, John C. Hall on the Launch of your Book

Congratulations to my friend and confederate (and Confederate!) John C. Hall, Jr. on the publication of his wonderful book, Above the High Water Mark. Yes, I've had some sneak previews, and it's truly engaging.

All too often in the popular culture, Southerners of the civil war era are portrayed as malevolent quasi-humans. John's great-great grandfather, Stephen Alpheastus "Fes" Corker, the subject of the book, obliterates that fabrication. His letters show him to be a warm, thoroughly human man concerned with home and family, including slaves, concerned with the men in is unit, particularly the sick, injured and dying ... but a fierce soldier who exhibited the courage and valor that Confederate soldiers were known for then, and still are.

John's book will be an invaluable resource for those researching the war, or the historic South, but it will be equally appealing to those reading for pleasure. A love story, a soldier's tale, a portrait of survival and recovery after devastation... A worthy addition to the Southern Confederate canon....

Visit John's book blog for a closer look at the story and a great first review by Scott Mingus, Sr. There's also ordering/purchase information. The book is available from the publisher, from and from CreateSpace.

Much success, sir, to you and your book! Godspeed.

New Orleans Divided....

NOLA.COM ran a story titled, Take 'Em Down NOLA calls for widespread removal, renaming of 'symbols of White Supremacy' that was so over the top, I had to leave a comment. It was deleted.

Soooooo, for those who are interested, I'm  posting it here.

~~ To those who are hostile to the artifacts of Confederate history and heritage
Especially, but not exclusively, to Take 'Em Down NOLA ~~

---From those who support and respect Confederate history and heritage

We believe your wrong-headed crusade to instigate a Stalin-style cultural cleansing of your city will not prevail.

We disagree that Confederate symbols mean what you say they mean.

We disagree with your truncated and selective interpretation of the Confederacy's history.

We highly disapprove of your efforts to demonize those whose view of the Confederacy is different from yours.

A great many of us no longer silently acquiesce to the evilization of our Southern forebears (who were no worse than anyone else, particularly those who made war on them) or the misbegotten efforts to deprive us and our descendants of our heritage.

We believe that your claim that these "public symbols ... demean and psychologically terrorize" members of Take 'Em Down NOLA, or anyone else, is exaggerated in the extreme.

The list of targets in the Times Picayune article dated March 23 and updated March 24 -- particularly street, school and hospital names -- underscore our skepticism of the claim of "demeaning and terrorizing," which is contradicted and neutralized by the long-standing and widely held view of New Orleans as "The Big Easy" and a cultural center blending unique cuisine, Mardi Gras, river cruises, Saints football and, yes, the still-felt influence of its vibrant, multi-faceted history. Targeting and removing any facet will deface the remainder, endangering the entire edifice, and your city's status as a visitor destination will shrivel, and tourist revenues will evaporate.

We think that residents of and visitors to New Orleans are far more likely to be demeaned and terrorized by the astronomical crime in your city. From Wikipedia: "In 2011 there were 16,761 crimes in New Orleans including 200 murders, 163 forcible rapes and 14,013 property crimes. With a murder rate of 57.6 per 100,000, New Orleans had the highest murder rate of any U.S. city with a population of 100,000 or more in 2011 and ranked 28th in the world in 2014." Thus, we think your time, efforts and funds would be far better spent addressing real crime in your city, not imaginary or mis-named white supremacy.

DeStroy's Desperation

This is in response to DeStroy's Desperation, found here:

In the comments of my previous post here at Backsass, I noted that months ago, I challenged DeStroy to list all the events two fellows, Sulser and Durham, organized that the VaFlaggers attended and VaFlagger-sponsored events Sulser and Durham attended (NOT other people's events they both attended). The Flaggers have confirmed that, of over 700 events, Sulser attended perhaps three. THREE.

DeStroy forgot my challenge for months and months. Or ignored it. He'd put me off when I asked about it. But now he's been caught, pinned to the wall, and his desperation is showing in his post at the link above. He claims to have 2 gigs of data proving what he claimed, hahaha. Presumably, this is his first post of "proof."

Sez he: This rally took place on Sunday, June 28, 2015 in front of the Stafford County Courthouse. Although it is unclear who organized this rally, it is believed that it was organized by Dennis Durham, the Virginia State Chairman of the League of the South, a white nationalist hate group (Emphasis added.)

Unclear who organized it but it is believed????   UNCLEAR? BUT IT IS BELIEVED?  BELIEVED BY WHOM? YOU???? No, no, no, DeStroy. We're not looking for "unclear" and "believed" because that is not PROOF.

He continues: The Stafford Light Artillery SCV Camp shared Jason Sulser's photo, apparently taken at the June 28th event. According to tagging, Sulser had shared the same photo previously on the Virginia Flaggers Facebook page. It is unclear if Sulser attended the rally himself, or was simply sharing the photo. Due to the SCV Camp's comment under the post, we know that about 15 people attended the rally. (Emphasis added.)

Apparently taken June 28? APPARENTLY????? We don't want APPARENTLY, DeStroy. We want ABSOLUTE PROOF. That was the deal, remember? PROOF

Unclear? UNCLEAR???? You are unclear, again???? We aren't looking for unclarity, DeStroy. Why are you mentioning it? CLARITY is what we're after.

Dennis Durham and Jason Sulser are listed as hosts on a Facebook event for a Confederate flag rally at the Stafford County Courthouse.

Well, well, well ... so they are .... on a screenshot dated JULY 3, and said screen designates TOMORROW (July 4, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.) as the date and time of the rally. Following the screenshot of the announcement for the July 4th rally, you post:

Only 5 days after this rally, Durham hosted another rally at the same location, Jason Sulser was listed on the event as the co-host.

So you mentioned TWICE that Durham and Sulser are "hosts" for the Stafford County Courthouse rally July 4th....  Are you really so mixed up that you didn't realize you had mentioned it already? Or is this just a really, really failed attempt at obfuscation?

Dennis Durham shared two photographs taken at the event as seen above. Bill West and Gregory Randall are both tagged in Durham's post. West can clearly be seen in one of the photos, and although it isn't clear due to the low quality of the photograph, it appears as though Randall is in another. Randall, we learned later, is or was a member of the white nationalist hate group, the League of the South, just like suspected rally host Durham.

(Yawn.) You learned LATER? How MUCH later? AFTER you made the ridiculous claims? If so, it doesn't count. Is or was? Which is it?

UPDATED Tuesday, March 14, 2017, 6:06pm EST. The photos above were just located. It shows Dennis Durham, and what appears to be Gregory Randall holding a League of the South banner at the rally. Durham is wearing a League of the South polo shirt. This post now confirms that this was a League of the South led flag demonstration

Ridiculous. It confirms two guys, a banner and a couple of flags. So you think your post "now confirms" that this was League of the South led flag demonstration?  WHAT was a League led demonstration? I don't see a crowd being "led." I don't even see 15 people being "led."

But, FINALLY, by March 14, you think your frantic searching paid off, huh?

I also don't see a date stamp on the picture. Even if the pic was made at either the June 28 or the July 4th events, it doesn't prove either event was "League led."  It just proves that a couple of guys showed up at the courthouse in League shirts and posed for a photo with a League banner.

You're gonna have to do better, DeStroy. If this is a sample of your "2 gigs of data" you've got 2 gigs of worthless crap. Remember, "apparently" "unclear" "believed" and similar linguistic silliness are not PROOF. You are supposed to be supplying PROOF.

He Just Can't Stay Away....

At his XRoads blog, Brooks Simpson tells a commenter, "I’m noting this event because of the close association between this person and a Confederate heritage group."

This event is the sentencing of a man, Jason Sulser, for trafficking in child pornography. We know the Confederate heritage group Simpson is talking about can't be the Virginia Flaggers, because they do not have a close relationship with Sulser.

But in case that is who people think he's talking about, let me disabuse you of that idea right now. Simpson tells the commenter, "You might want to do a little research before you offer your opinion."  I also wrote a comment to leave at XRoads but Simpson has a long, long history of not posting comments he doesn't like, or that prove he is wrong -- especially mine -- so I'm addressing some of  my comments in this blog entry to him.

I might suggest that you might want to do a little research before you offer your opinion, Simpson, but, of course, we know that when it comes to Confederate heritage folks, and especially the Virginia Flaggers, you don't want to do that. What YOU want to do is join DeStroy in fomenting hatred for the Virginia Flaggers. That is why you have posted about them, or hosted comments about them, hundreds of times on your blog -- with the posts and comments almost always hostile and frequently deliberately untrue.

If the Virginia Flaggers are the "Confederate heritage group" you are talking about without naming, then read on and add this to your research.

Mr. Sulser has showed up for some events that the VaFlaggers also attended. He may have showed up for some Flagger events that were open to everyone (the Flaggers say he attended about 3 of over 700 events). He and the Flaggers have traded a tiny handful of comments on Facebook. Are you seriously claiming that constitutes a close association? If so, then the VaFlaggers have close relationships with hundreds, possibly thousands of people they've never even spoken to, but who attended events like the Tomato Festival and the Mechanicsville Christmas Parade, etc.

BTW, your alter-eg-- I mean, your buddy DeStroy said months ago he was going to compile a list of Virginia Flagger-sponsored events that Sulser attended -- dates, times, locations --  and events organized by Sulser that the Flaggers attended, and post them on his blog. Not events sponsored by others they both happened to attend, but THEIR events and HIS events. DeStroy has posted no such lists. We can only assume he hasn't because he can't, because he can't find and/or document any.

Simpson, I know you have a visceral desire to portray the Virginia Flaggers as racist evil-doers, but they are not and your longing to believe they are is both pathetic and contemptible. Let us not forget that you had among your blog followers a convicted pedophile and a convicted child porn trafficker. What is there about you that attracted these followers? And how many other of your followers are the same, but they just haven't been outed yet?

And what about your close association with the antifa commenters at XRoads. DeStroy is an antifa supporter, and probably antifa himself.. "Liberty Lamp" is antifa... Antifa are the folks who rioted and attacked people and injured many after Trump's election. They riot and burn buildings at college campuses to deprive certain speakers of their constitutional rights to appear and address audiences there. They have beaten up peaceful demonstrators; they've pepper sprayed old people, and destroyed property at otherwise peaceful gatherings from California to Virginia...

In the USA and in Europe, dressed in black, with black hoods and masks, they are the left's KKK, the storm troopers of the New World Order*.... and you have welcomed at least two to comment on your blog. What is there about you that attracts the KKK of the progressive left? Why have you not denounced the violent antifa?  Why leftist antifa, or their supporters, commented at your blog in the past? Why have you continued allowed them to comment at XRoads, most recently on March 11?

As I have challenged elsewhere, Find me ANYWHERE online a video where an innocent pedestrian or even a Flagger critic walking down the Boulevard in Richmond gets physically attacked, hit, punched, slapped, and kicked like the unfortunate protester in Berkeley who was beaten and kicked by antifa thugs. (See the video at the February 10th entry of this blog.)At most, critics on the Boulevard might find themselves videotaped... but not violently attacked -- not by the Virginia Flaggers, at any rate.

What we are seeing now is what we've seen all along. "Progressives" like Simpson and his followers are more offended by some people's words than they are other people's violence and thuggery.  And many times, the words they object to are not offensive in and of themselves. In that case, these critics assign meanings to words that they don't actually have, so they can condemn others, not for what they say, but for what critics say they mean.

Simpson has stepped up his attacks on Confederate heritage folks recently, after laying somewhat low for a good while, and letting his Restoring the Honor persona-- I mean, colleague, do the heavy lifting of heritage bashing. I'm not sure what happened lately to set him off... but with haters like that, you might never know....

The Douglasville 15, the "Justice" System and the Fake News Media....

The following is edited from posts and comments I recently made on Facebook following the sentencing of Jose Torres and Kayla Norton in Douglas County, Georgia...

Some Troubling Aspects of the Douglasville 15 Case

I've touched on some of these aspects in other comments, but they can certainly bear repeating.

Maybe these defendants ARE white supes motivated by racial hatred, but the case presented by the justice system fails to show that. Claims to that effect are made by others, but actual evidence showing these defendants' statements and actions are far from conclusive. It's mostly just "they said..." claims. **

If actual evidence ever comes out that these people are haters misusing our ancestors' flag, I will have no qualms about acknowledging it and denouncing them.

But right now, I'm doubtful, for the following (and other) reasons.

Some of the judge's statements, as reported in the media, are troubling. And what the media "chose" to "report" about this incident reveals their lack of objectivity; it appears that they, and he, are trying to influence public opinion to hatred of the defendants.

>>>“Their actions were motivated by racial hatred,” the judge said.<<<

The judge is not a mind-reader. He cannot know this unless they told him that was what motivated them. I am deeply suspicious of this man's impartiality.

Although I haven't tried to verify this yet, I'm told that he is up for re-election. He's white. His opponent is black. Could his performance during this trial be currying favor with black voters? This seems to substantiate a comment I made in an earlier post that the excessive sentence for the defendants appeared to be politically motivated. Could he have sacrificed an impartial trial for these defendants on the altar of his political ambition?

The media reports:

>>>Just a month after Dylann Roof shot down nine African-American worshipers in a Charleston, S.C., church, Jose Ismael Torres and Kayla Rae Norton gathered with 13 other friends to make a statement about the Confederate battle flag.<<<

Roof and Charleston are irrelevant to this case. Bringing them up is a blatant attempt to falsely associate the defendants with Roof, and to equate their alleged actions with his crime .

>>>Roof had championed it and said he wanted to start a race war.<<<

Roof did not "champion" the Confederate battle flag. He had his picture made with it a few times, but he didn't even mention it in his manifesto, which is where it would need to be if he was "championing" it. If you are confused about this, compare his behavior to that of the Virginia Flaggers. THEY are champions of the battle flag.

>>>Over two days in July 2015, Norton and Torres’ group, which called itself “Respect the Flag,” decorated their convoy of pickup trucks and went on what authorities described as a drunken rampage through Paulding and Douglas counties.<<<

How do we know this description by "authorities" is accurate when there is very little elaboration on it or substantiation of it? A news report includes this:

>>>“Many good people in Paulding County saw you for what you are,” McClain said before he handed down the sentences. “Everywhere you went, 911 call centers were flooded with calls.”<<<

How many good people, Judge? How many 911 calls were there? "Flooded with calls" is blatantly nonspecific. Intentionally so? How many is a flood? Three? Thirty? Three hundred? This needs to be clarified. Calls to 911 are archived. It should be possible, and relatively easy, to get a precise number of the calls, rather than resort to the loaded word, "flooded."

>>>As the defendants wept uncontrollably, Douglas County Superior Court Judge William McClain castigated Norton, 25, and Torres, 26, for perpetrating what he called a hate crime. He sentenced Torres to 20 years, with 13 to serve in prison; Norton was given 15 years, with six to serve. Upon their release, they will be banished from Douglas County, McClain said.<<<

On top of these grossly excessive sentences, they are to be banished from the county? How medieval can this judge get?

There are many other things about this case, about how it has been handled from the beginning, about the trial and about the way it has all been reported in the media that are extremely troubling.

Yes, the defendants did something wrong and they should be held accountable for it. If the incident with the gun is being accurately reported, they *especially* deserve to be held accountable for that.

But there are too many troubling things about this case that makes me deeply suspicious that serving justice was not the point for the "authorities".

***** 1. The involvement of the Southern Poverty Law Center since the very beginning ... From the SPLC's website:

"The SPLC launched an investigation immediately after the July 25 incident and turned over videos and other evidence to Douglasville District Attorney Brian K. Fortner. SPLC attorneys also brought witnesses to the prosecutor and have been representing some of the people at the party."

We need to know what videos and "other evidence" the SPLC gave to the DA. We need to see the videos and other evidence ourselves.  We need the identity of the SPLC-provided witnesses, and what information/testimony they provided. We need copies of any depositions they gave.

***** 2. The repeated references to Dylann Roof and Charleston by the press.

If there was any actual connection whatsoever between Roof and this group, that connection needs to be presented in detail. If there is no actual connection -- if it is some mysterious "link" imagined in the press due to their prejudices about the Confederate battle flag -- they need to remove all references to Roof and Charleston from their reports about this Georgia incident.

***** 3. This incident needs to bring into sharp focus Georgia's "gang terrorism" law. Citizens of the state need to understand just how dangerous this law is, how it could endanger innocent people, or authorize cruel and unusual punishment for those convicted of crimes under its authority.

That's just a start on the troubling aspects of this case.

I believe there is waaaaaay more here than meets the eye.

** The only video I've seen of the incident as it occurred (and it was winding down, as the trucks were leaving at that time), is a snippet of less than a minute. I note that 1.) no threats or racial slurs are discernible in the audio from those in the trucks, 2.) the party-goers do not appear to be the least bit terrorized or traumatized; they appear to be infuriated, at least one of them mindlessly so; 3.) there are no guns visible in the snnippet; 4.) there are no swastika flags, as some people claimed.

Dangerous, Violent, Hate-filled Left Shows Its True Nature

Yvette Felarca is a violent lunatic in California. She and her group, By Any Means Necessary, led the violent attacks to shut down Milo Yiannopoulos at Berkeley. Why? Because, she says, he is a fascist and white supremacist. Apparently, she is completely unaware that there are fascists and white supremacists who are nonviolent and thus morally superior to her. Or if she is aware, she doesn't care.

Felarca is an "antifascist" -- which is a title that its adopters believe gives them the right to do what they criticize in others -- violently beat, harass, silence and destroy people they disagree with.. Antifascist = leftist = socialist =  collectivist.

Igor Shafarevic, author of The Socialist Phenomenon, concluded that the goal of socialism is destruction -- specifically, the death of the human race.

Paraphrased in Sobran's: "...socialism had endured throughout history, usually in the form of one or another Christian heresy.

The left/socialism/collectivism is all about death and destruction, and this berserker Felarca is currently its poster child.

Over the years, leftists in the educational establishment and their anonymous follower/haters have persecuted and cyberstalked Confederate heritage defenders and the Virginia Flaggers in particular, with lies that they are "linked" to white supes like Matthew Heimbach. They are not, and it has been proven, over and over. But when a peaceful demonstration by Heimbach and his organization was held in California last year, and they were physically and violently attacked by Felarca and her fellow lunatic "antifas", did they say anything? Of course not. They don't CARE about REAL violence perped by people on their side; they care about attacking the Flaggers with lies and more lies.

The Difference Between "Anti-Fascists" and Confederate Heritage

Find me ANYWHERE online a video where an innocent pedestrian or even a Flagger critic walking down the Boulevard in Richmond gets physically attacked, hit, punched, slapped, and kicked like this. The worst that happens is that they get videotaped. As far as their organizations go, Lunatic Felarca is the counterpart of Susan Hathaway, but they could not be farther apart in morality, ideology and decency.

As far as I can determine, critics like the cowardly anonymous hate-blogger at "Restoring the Honor" (a blog specifically created to attack the Flaggers and incite hatred, and perhaps violence, toward them), and the cowardly anonymous "Liberty Lamp", and civil war bloggers like Brooks Simpson and Kevin Levin, have not spoken a word against the Berkeley Berserkers, or acknowledged how incredibly dangerous they are in a society such as ours, where Constitutional guarantees are supposed to apply to all.

But oh, someone who once did business with the Flaggers said some slurs, and that is WORSE than Felarca's violence and destruction. When the leftist lunatics disagree with someone, they want to shut them up and take them down, by any means necessary. I think Felarca is dangerous and spouts highly toxic rhetoric and people are going to get hurt or killed by it. And I believe she needs to be shut down, and her group obliterated -- the difference is I think it ought to be done lawfully and nonviolently.

Interview with the lunatic here:

She is what she claims to be against. I await condemnation of this from the usual suspects, but it will be a cold day in hell before it is forth coming ... and hell will freeze over before they admit their hatred for and cyberstalking.and harassment of Susan Hathaway and extend their apologies.

Gleefully Approving of Annihilation

What kind of civil war historian, or any other kind of historian, occupies himself with monitoring and trashing currently existing heritage organizations, and plasters his blog with gleeful disparagement of them?

Well, one example is a man who crafts a mission for his civil war blog that far exceeds history. Indeed, instead of naming his blog Civil War History, he names it Civil War Memory. Thus, if there is something he wishes to discuss (or "discuss") on his blog, all he has to do is find or fabricate some connection between it and "how the civil war is remembered."

Since January 14, Flogger Kevin Levin has posted no less than three blog entries with "Virginia Flaggers" in the title. In one of them, he cites a hate piece he wrote about the Flaggers for the ultra-leftist e-mag, The Daily Beast. I pretty much tore up that piece, examining his methods and the motives behind what he wrote, and you can read it here:

On January 16, his most morbidly gleeful headline is posted, which reads, Virginia Flaggers Outflanked and Annihilated. It is interesting that he uses far less inflammatory words in the post itself -- upstaged and defeated, which hardly means "annihilated" -- and the post actually acknowledges two Flagger victories, positive coverage by the press and the raising of another immense Confederate Memorial Flag in Lexington (the fourth in that significant Confederate town). I wonder how much this confused his readers....

But I find his use of "annihilate" in the headline the most interesting, and telling. Some synonyms for "annihilate" at are: eradicate, exterminate, obliterate, liquidate, massacre, slaughter. If asked, he would probably say he meant the Flagger organization. But just as he interprets big flags by the highway to be defeat for the Flaggers (it isn't), I interpret his use of these words to reveal his agreement with the hatred for white Southerners that has characterized the USA on some level, for generations, and his latent approval of the union's desire to utterly destroy the white South.

I can't help but be reminded of Mrs. Kevin's wishing early death for heritage people (or maybe all white Southerner?) from unhealthy diets, because some people -- including herself and her husband -- misconstrued a meme about an Obama.

Annihilate... very tolerant and inclusive word, is it not?

Hate and Bigotry Warming Up at XRoads.

There's a new online dating service called "For Confederates Only" that Simpson has featured on is hate blog. I know nothing about the service; had never heard of it until Simpson posted a link to it at XRoads to encourage hatred and ridicule of heritage folks in his readers.

But the gust of hate and ridicule coming from his comment thread doesn't hold a candle to the paroxysm gushing forth from the hate blogs of Levin and DeStroy, and from Comment-Thread Hate Jockey Andy Hall, who, for some reason, apparently prefers to display his hatred on other people's blogs instead of his own.

According to Wikipedia's entry on online dating services, "Successful niche sites pair people by race, sexual orientation or religion. The 20 most popular dating sites in 2006 as ranked by Hitwise include (for Jewish singles),,, (same sex introductions), LoveFromIndia.ini,, (for Latino singles),, and (for Indian singles)..."

Would these people ridicule and foment hate for people who use these services as they do "For Confederates Only"? Of course not.

This is just more confirmation of my claim that hating white Southerners (and fomenting hatred of us in others) is an agenda that has preoccupied the country since the civil war, and most especially has preoccupied leftists since WWII.

I could make some observations on several comments following that thread, but I'll choose just one:

In a surprising bout of honesty from neo-Confederates, it seems they’ve used “actual photos of actual members” rather than the normal stock photos of models route.
The normal stock photos of models route? Normal for who, dating sites? Or normal for "neo-Confederates"? If you mean the latter, I'm calling you out, Sledge. Come here and provide a link substantiating that using stock photos of models is the "normal route" for "neoConfederates," which, presumably includes Confederate heritage folks.

Perhaps some heritage folks have used stock images or other fake photos for satire, but I'm not aware of it. The only person I'm aware of who uses fake photos is Corey Meyer, and he is a hater, a slimy, smelly deliberate deceiver -- not a Confederate....

Your turn, Scott. Link to stock photos of models used by "neo-Confederates" instead of actual photos of themselves. Make sure their motives are as disgusting and putrid as Corey's -- and a host of other anti-Confederate haters.

Believe It

If the Virginia Flaggers and other Confederate groups announced that from here on, they would no longer commemorate Lee-Jackson Day, or any other public event, in Lexington, CARE would vanish into thin air. Anyone who thinks they marched in Lexington to "honor King" is seriously, deeply hoodwinked.
