Silent Simpson

Well, well, well....

The reasons for Brooks Simpson's recent bullying, and lying about, Border Ruffian, has suddenly become clear to me. Crystal clear.

What happened was that I was tiptoeing through the floggosphere, and I happened upon a post at Crossroads from November 12 that I had not noticed at the time.

Titled, Research Exercise: Twelve Years a Slave … Edwin Epps’s Slaves, the post explains that Simp hasn't seen the movie yet (same excuse Corey has used) but invites people to offer explanations for why the slave schedule from the 1850 census doesn't match Northrup's narrative.

I notice that Levin hasn't done a review of the movie since he saw it, Al Mackey posted in October that he wanted to see it, but apparently has not, as of this writing, because there have been no more posts about it at his blog.  And I couldn't find a syllable about it at Andy's Dead Confederates.

There was quite a bit of speculation at Crossroads in response to Simpson's post, but for some reason, when Border Ruffian posted the reasons why Northrup's narrative is suspect, nobody else posted on the thread. I mean dead, ringing silence, folks. Not even Simpson responded to it....

Silent Simpson.
http://cwcrossroads.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/research-exercise-twelve-years-a-slave-edwin-eppss-slaves/#comments

The next time Simpson does mention Border Ruffian is to rake him over the coals, lie about BR's post, ignore BR's use of the word "camp" and to refuse to post BR's comments, save one.  http://cwcrossroads.wordpress.com/2013/11/13/there-he-goes-again-but-hell-be-right-back/#comments

Now we know why, don't we? Aside from the fact that Border Ruffian's research casts doubts on what should be a deliciously potent tool for evilizing white Southerners, it appears that nobody in the floggerette peanut gallery noticed these glaring inconsistencies in Northrup's narrative, preferring to speculate on the nefarious motives of slave owner Epps...  In other words, he showed them up.... After that, the attack post by Silent Simpson was inevitable.

Well done, Border Ruffian. Well done.

  1. Give up on researching superheroes? Just like Superheroes you don't know the first thing about 12 Years a Slave...you have not even read it.

  2. LOL, Corey, the post isn't about 12 Years a Slave. It's about Silent Simpson.

I'm still researching superheroes. My husband's favorite is Spiderman.

  3. Or maybe it was because when any type of answer was provided, he ignored it and went on to post other things, so everyone began ignoring him. That's what I did at least.

  4. In that thread about the Epps slaves, only one person replied. You, and your post wasn't crafted as a question, or something to respond to. Make up all the excuses you want. Border Ruffian found holes in what should have been a great weapon for bashing white Southerners. Nobody wanted to acknowledge that, so they clammed up, bigtime.

  5. And we know that when Simpson shortly afterword made an entire blog post attempting to discredit Border Ruffian, he refused to let two of BR's three comments through moderation.

Keep in mind that this lyin' low-life, this person of questionable integrity, is a professor, a teacher of students at a major state university.

"Keep in mind that this lyin' low-life, this person of questionable integrity, is a professor, a teacher of students at a major state university."

If I were a teacher, especially at a large public university, and I was espousing a certain subject and topic with the intent on swaying my student's mind to think the same; what are some of the things I would do in order to accomplish this? Now it can't be too obvious, and it has to be subtle so students will not realize my bias.

The same principles can be applied to the news and mass media.

1- You can *marginalize* your opponents and what you dislike.

2- You give and cite many more references which reinforces your POV. You also can do this from a *linear scale* showing the main points confirming your POV as being the correct one. You are simply regulating the amount of *comparable information* available to be scrutinized and judged by the students and readers.

3- You can omit and simply disregard anything that contradicts or questions your POV and what you're espousing, your real agenda.

4- You can limit the number of negative responses against your POV in various ways. (This is different than point 6 below. This is limiting the total comments against your POV, true or otherwise.)

5- You can subtly accuse the other side of lying, racism, bias, bigotry and all the things you are doing yourself in espousing your POV.

6- You can work to LIMIT free speech in various ways, starting by making some comments Politically Incorrect and taboo or off limits. And then by BANNING those who most vigorously oppose you, calling them names such as *racists, terrorists, unpatriotic, lunatics, and LAUGHABLE*.

7- You then glorify your POV while demonizing the others POV using all the previous 6 statements.

You make the whole process redundant by ever increasing the applied pressure and tactics used by the 7 major points. You ALWAYS take ground an inch at a time as the students and readers are maneuvered into an ever closing box limiting their ability to question the authority of those presenting only one POV on an ever increasing scale in their favor.

And that is EXACTLY how Bwooks, McPherson and other hard core Marxists does this today in varying forms. If they don't like a person or what they have to say, even if stated gentlemanly, they will be ignored and or banned. (And that is what happened to me. Afterwards is a different story however.)

Their lower minions such as Corey Darling and RoboCop, plus thousands of others have not the brain capacity to question their superiors or the truth, so they continue the same forms of demonizing their opposition, though on a lesser scale, because of their partial ignorance. They simply read and quote what they've been taught to repeat as they have not independence enuff to think on their own.

  7. I found holes in all of his arguments. I do not know if Simpson has posted them, but they are simply.

    1.) he misrepresented a source.
2.) he posts census records carelessly without scrutiny. He supposes Solomon lies about the ages of the slaves in his book, because the census lists no slaves over 40. He fails to acknowledge Solomon is over 40, and is listed under 40 on the census.
3.) His other arguments are non-consequential, because they are predictable. They cast no doubt on the story.

  8. Hey Mike

    What are your accreditations?

  9. The Floggers hate the charge of political correctness (btw a term invented by the Left) but this is a prime example of it - they don't dare criticize the book or the film. They don't dare.

It is so painfully obvious that you have not been in an educational institution lately nor do you fathom the concept of critical thinking.

  11. Thinking back on my last post, how many of you have connected the dots and now understands why Bwooks, Kevin's Bacon and ALL liberal Marxist sites bans people like us who simply state facts and truths. (I'm not even counting being civil as I have been banned MANY times from many places for simply writing something, facts, that others didn't agree with and didn't want to hear.) From a large newspaper in the city nearest me I was banned without ever uttering the first offense at anyone. I was called a terrorist and was told by the chief editor that my comments were not welcome there. Strangely one of the most liberal women reading the column, one I had disagreed with many times, took offense and claimed I had said nothing wrong.

What I am saying is, this is a one way street. People like us allow most anything to be posted and all decent comments posted. Yet the Marxist side is ALWAYS complaining that something isn't fair, that another is being racist, a bigot, a terrorist or writing hate speech, and because of that their comments are banned and many times they are too.

It's no different with the flag issue, especially with the VA Flaggers and specifically the I-95 flag issue over flying the Confederate Battle Flag. It's a one way street with the Marxist side always trying to limit and abolish any rights to fly the flag, even on non-state property. And for that matter; what's wrong with flying it on state property? --NOTHING! Yet anyone supporting the CBF in any way, not just the I-95 issue is demonized, marginalized, vilified and made fun of because they believe different than the standardized socialized way of FORCING everyone to believe, think the and support the same status quo.

So, the issue is much greater than just Lincoln's War. That just happens to be where the problems started and many Southern leaders understood that, before and after the war. It is also why we now have ObummerCare staring us in the eyes and why we have so many unconstitutional laws today. It is also why it is now PC to ban others for what others considers *Free Speech Violations*, regardless of the content, truthful or not. And finally it is why we have *some* people who opposes and hates us so badly, they will follow us here to mock and belittle us, and over the smallest of details.. NO, over anything they don't like.

"Hey Mike What are your accreditations?"

RoboCop; does that supposed to justify or vindicate me in some sort of way? Or does it give you more leeway in vilifying me in some sort of way? Oh, I have accreditations, but why should I hand them to you on a silver platter?

I'll give you this much; When I studied I didn't go to a public modern day *Marxist* school of learning. I actually had a couple of *real* professors that was teaching before WWII. They actually taught how to independently think and arrive at your own conclusions.

What you have today is NOT public education as it concerns free thinking, but rather education today is all about memorization and following specific routines, you know, like Common Core, that teaches basic concepts of how to learn in sound bytes, and learning only ONE preset agenda concerning any subject. Of course these education czars are only going to allow their versions of history and learning to be administered to the dumbed down public.

Your and Corey Darling's idea of public education is a joke, a cruel joke. Matter of fact at my last speaking engagement I touched upon public education today. I said it was a SIN to send your children to a public school in this day and age.

RoboCop and Corey Darling, whatever it is you are teaching today, it isn't educational. It's ungodly and evil! People can home-school their children much better, cheaper and with less stress than by sending them to a public school.

So, since you're so brilliant and knowledgeable, you should know perfectly well how much education I have. From this you should learn to ask more pertinent questions...

Corey Darling, your idea of critical thinking is simply following orders. That's why I said in a post a few weeks ago, you'd make a decent tour guide, but that's about as far as your knowledge extends. Your comments, not knowing what a caption is proves that to a very large degree. Well, by the looks of your avatar, that also says a lot. You're completely mesmerized. Or is it spaced out? But then again, that's just *MY* caption for your picture!

I found holes in all of his arguments. I do not know if Simpson has posted them, but they are simply.

    1.) he misrepresented a source.

No, it was you that misrepresented the source.

2.) he posts census records carelessly without scrutiny.

I've been researching census records longer than you've been alive.

He supposes Solomon lies about the ages of the slaves in his book, because the census lists no slaves over 40.

Good reason. The census record is an official document with penalties for recording or giving false information. What would you call the book?

He fails to acknowledge Solomon is over 40, and is listed under 40on the census.

Names of the Epps slaves are not given.

3.) His other arguments are non-consequential, because they are predictable. They cast no doubt on the story.

    -a ridiculous assessment.

  17. Regardless Connie, you have no idea either where it is from...hint it was from a Movie.

However it is not related to anything historical.

My my Corey Darling, you're so dense also.

Understand, I don't need to know where your avatar came from, nor do I care. Why should I care? The point is you posted a picture that *supposedly* represents something, anything that you consider representative of yourself. That picture can be considered by others as a statement pertaining to you. Everyone will see the picture in slightly different ways. I merely stated what it meant to me, and it could very well be included as a caption with the picture.

As for it coming from some movie, sorry Darling, I don't look at TV and extremely few movies. I prefer reality to fiction and propaganda. BTW- I don't listen to radio either... However I am a constant reader and have a considerable library. I choose to spend my time more wisely than you do looking at foolish movies and trying to pattern myself after them in some way.

Sure you follow orders. You read and do as the instructors tells you. Whoever that may be in charge of the manuals. And you pretend to teach the same way. Learning isn't about memorization and following orders in order to mold society into your image. It is about learning to think for your selves and becoming wise enuff to earn your freedom. For freedom is earned, NEVER handed to anyone on a platter, especially as equality.

Me a sad person, you claim? It isn't me who can't think for themself! The truth has set me free while enslaving you to the system. You're just another gear on the cog, and expendable. Now that is sad....

  20. Border Ruffian,

Not to drag the comments from another website to Connie's blog, but you are absolutely, 100%, wrong about my comments.

1.) You lead on as if Northup made numerous accounts which includes your posting of an article in the NYTimes. The article was not written by Northup, but comes as a second hand account.

2.) Your logical fallacy is anecdotal. Your personal experience does not dismiss the poor argumentation you used. It doesn't matter if the names of the slaves are not given, they can be identified somewhat based on ages. Solomon was over 40, and a slave of Epps's in 1850. So why isn't his age accounted for? You are also incredibly wrong about the penalties. False information and bad recording procedures plague census records. Everyone knows this; one would think that someone who claims to have studies census records for over 26 years would know it too.

    3. A logical assessment given how you cannot see the errors you made in attempting to deconstruct the story.

...and the book wasn't written by Northrup but by David Wilson.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No. "12 Years a Slave" is an autobiography edited by David Wilson. Wilson wrote local histories in his lifetime, and corroborates a lot of information about Solomon's trials with documentation. The rest taken from Solomon's own mouth, and written as his narrative.

The article is Wilson, the book is Solomon's account. Learn the difference.
