"...this little fabrication takes the cake." K. Levin
"...the story is likely fabricated. There is no way to corroborate the story since no names are used and there were no police patrolling campus on Saturday." K. Levin
"The story was most likely fabricated. It is interesting how often minors are the centers of these stories." K. Levin
"Though it’s possible, I find it hard to believe that no one else was around campus on Saturday. W&L denies that there was any incident which is a very risky thing to do if others witnessed this supposed exchange." K. Levin
"All I can see is moral bankruptcy." K. Levin

...university officials initially denied the allegations being brought against it. Brian Eckert, the spokesperson for Washington and Lee, stated there is no indication the incident took place.
However, on Tuesday the University admitted that because of "safety" reasons they forced 4 people "not to carry or wear Confederate flags or emblems on the campus."
According to our Office of Public Safety, our officers reported four occasions when they interacted with individuals who were participating in the July 26 rally sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans in downtown Lexington....In each instance, the officers requested individuals not to carry Confederate flags or to wear attire with Confederate emblems on the campus. The individuals all complied with these requests. (Emphasis mine. ~cw)
General Lee would be sooooo proud of the university that bears his name ... intimidation, harassment and LYING....
So, Levin, will the VaFlaggers get their apology?
Levin also owes the SCV, the heritage visitors, the young man whose existence he doubted an apology ...
Will they get it?
Washington and Lee University owes them all an apology.
Will they get it?
We shall see....
Talk about yer moral bankruptcy....

Apology timeline countdown...
1:51 PM CST -- WNCN, Raleigh NC, publishes story
5:02 PM CST -- No apology or acknowledgement by Levin at Civil War Memory
7:20 PM CST -- Checked Levin's blog. He has "updated" it to acknowledge that the university admits that four individuals were told that they could not bring “carry (sic) Confederate flags or to wear attire with Confederate emblems on the campus...." but no apology.
7:45 PM CST -- Levin issues a belated apology that sez, "My apologies to the Virginia Flaggers and SCV." Added to the previous update. I'm surprised.
I guess it helps to be on a book promoting mission at Petersburg when you gotta eat crow, I guess.
Levin adds, "Let me state for the record that I have no problem with the university taking measures to secure their campus if it is deemed necessary."
Lame attempt at obfuscation. Let me state that have no problem with that, either. But this wasn't only about that, and I have very little suspicion that the campus was under any kind of threat that it needed to be secured from, anyway. I've already established that the SCV has no history of violence.
What this was mostly about was Levin calling the young man and the Virginia Flaggers LIARS. It was about accusing them of STAGING A CONFLICT to "garner sympathy for their cause," an accusation of which they were totally innocent. It was about implying they were habitual liars and false conflict-creators, which I proved was not true, here. It's about claiming they are morally bankrupt.
Do y'all suppose Levin doesn't know that?
I doubt his ego would allow him to acknowledge it.
ReplyDeleteDoes Crow Taste Like Chicken ?
ReplyDeleteTalk about yer moral bankruptcy. Bakur wants to know what Levin should apologize for. uha!
ReplyDeleteDuah ???
DeleteJust my opinion, but I think both are true. I agree that the school did force people not to wear CSA flags, but that story posted on CW Memory was probably fictitious.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like this too, is right in Levin's middle-aged English-speaking, white male face.
ReplyDeleteWell with no way out Kevin says ---
ReplyDelete.” My apologies to the Virginia Flaggers and SCV."
Well at least he had enough gumption to do so.
Now then what about all the folks who commented at his blog ?
There are few if any students on Campus at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteConnie
ReplyDeleteI would like to know why Mr. Levin who teaches in an all white private school would call us racist. He is beyond contempt along with his cohorts Mackey,Simpson and Hall. Maybe he was the one who posted the vile statements on his own blog out of his own mouth. Mr. Levin I have not forgot what you said about Mississippi.
olesonms, best I can tell, segregation is all right, depending on who is doing it. It's okay for Jewish folks, for example.
ReplyDeleteBakur sez, "Kevin's issue, was with the comment left at his blog, and how it originated with a fellow Southern Heritage advocate. So again, why should he apologize. of course, you won't point this out in your post."
ReplyDeleteAh, no. Kevin's issue is with the Virigina Flaggers, not with the anonymous or fake comment on his blog. The only reason the comment is an issue is because he suspected the Virginia Flaggers of fabricating the story of the teenager at W&L, and the fake comment was about that.
I've been very clear about what I think he should apologize for -- copied here to my blog in his own flippin' words. With all that edumucation you've got, can't you read?
Again, Bakur, I've been very clear what I think he should apologize for, and he must have agreed, since he apologized. But perhaps your moral compass is on the friz, so I'll 'splain it to you. Levin took an anonymous or fake ID comment on his blog and used that as "reasoning" for why the story itself (of the cop and the teenage boy) was conflict "fabricated" by the VaFlaggers to "garner sympathy" for their cause.
DeleteGet it now?
Connie,
DeleteIt is part of baker's MO to act childish and repeat himself over and over. That is why I no longer approve his comments on Cold Southern Steel
I already sent in FOIA request to police chief and city manager asking for copy of police report filed on alleged threats....last word...they're working on it...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grayson. This ought to be good. I think the "threat" -- if it even existed -- was gigantically overblown. Frankly, because of the behavior shown by the university, I think the "threat" claims and the "fear" factor were concocted to smear the SCV, the Flaggers and Confederate heritage folks in general. No other reason. If it turns out I'm wrong, I will apologize.
DeleteBakur, I said anonymous or FAKE ID comment. You're wearing my patience thin. I may have to start deleting your comments unread.
ReplyDeletePredictably, Baker has put his foot in his mouth again. What makes this so especially delicious, however, is that Levin helped him do it. But cheese and crackers, that doofus Baker is the epitome of a Bull in a China Shop.
ReplyDeleteBaker puts his foot in his mouth daily. That's why this one barely registered to me.
DeleteWell looks like I was wrong, Levin did apologize. A backhanded apology to be sure, but its the best I think a person like him can manage so in this instance I'll give the benefit of the doubt.
ReplyDelete"Baker puts his foot in his mouth daily". Ha! So very, very true. In fact, didn't someone here give him the nickname "Sideshow Rob Baker"?
ReplyDeleteI was giving Rob some chances to comment at my blog, "WAS"
ReplyDeleteafter his latest round of authoritarian ignorance, I gotta put him in the Phantom Zone with Gen. Zod and Corey.
One more and they can play Pinochle .
As for Levin's apology - I'm X-SCV (nothing wrong with the organization I just couldn't make the meetings)
And I am a Flagger !
I can only speak for myself, "That apology rings Hollow ! "
Ya know it's funny, over at Levin's blog, he has a photograph of "The Committee", all smiling and dressed up in their Sunday best. And Levin has bent-over-backwards to heap praise on them and their causes. And yet not a single one of them would be welcome to attend the school at which Levin teaches. Remembering, of course, that Levin teaches at a segregated all-white school.
ReplyDeleteOh, excellent point, Austin. Excellent.
DeleteThank you Connie.
ReplyDeleteYes, Corey, we all understand the double standard -- that SEGREGATION is OKAY for some people, but not for others. Don't blow your nose so hard that your brain blows out.
